Subject: RE: [Practiceimprovement1] New patient survey
Reply-To: Practiceimprovement1@yahoogroups.com
1. How may patients did you start with? (ie. brought with you from another practice)
[Michelle Eads] I thought all of my pts would come from my prior practice, since I was going from 2100+ to 450 (took awhile to determine that #), but probably about 75% of my current patients were former patients or family members of former patients. When I started, I had about 100 pts.
2. How many new patients did you get for each month in the first year? or if that is too complicated how many did you average per day or per month over the course of the year? [Michelle Eads] After 12 months I had 500 patients, most came in during the first 6 months
3. What was your patient panel after a year?[Michelle Eads] about 500
4. After how many months did you close? [Michelle Eads] 13 months, have intermittently opened and closed, depending on total numbers
5. What was your patient panel when you closed?[Michelle Eads] 500, but now closed at 450
6. How many hours per day/ days per week do you work? or want to work?[Michelle Eads] 19 pt contact hrs per week, 5 days a week, total about 32 hrs/week. Want to work 30 hrs per week.
7. How many visits do you average in a week?[Michelle Eads] 17 on slow weeks, 30 on busy weeks (most of my appts are 1 hour, some 30 mins or less)
8. What is the seasonal variation of your practice? (ie. Elise's residency clinic sees 2500 patients through the summer and 3000 patients a month in the winter.) This affects how long we won't have any money after starting. :)
[Michelle Eads] summer is slower, but I then take alternating Thursdays or Fridays off to be a Mommy, so it works well for me.
9. How did you advertise?[Michelle Eads] mainly word of mouth. I put one add in the local paper, and had a sign at my office. Still getting 3-5 calls a day from potential new patients.
10. What is your
reimbursement average per RVU? (Ours is looking to be between $60 to $62
for insurers and $37 Medicare and somewhere in the middle for
Medicaid and Tricare. We are in
Thanks,
